The iPhone 15 Pro is generating a lot of buzz, and people are eagerly anticipating its release. This morning, we reported that it will end up with the most RAM ever seen in an iPhone.
And now more information has been revealed about a new design it may be getting. Apple has been ditching physical inputs a lot recently. There are rumours that next year, the company might ditch both its power and volume buttons. Check out the details below to learn more!
iPhone 15 Pro With No Physical Buttons?
A recent announcement from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple will invest in the solid-state button design for the volume and power buttons on its upcoming releases, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

My latest survey indicates that the volume button and power button of two high-end iPhone 15/2H23 new iPhone models may adopt a solid-state button design (similar to the home button design of iPhone 7/8/SE2 & 3) to replace the physical/mechanical button design.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) October 28, 2022
These will take place of the physical and mechanical button design. These buttons will mimic the feeling of pressing a button instead of clicking in the actual button design.
The iPhone 15 Pro is due for next year, and it’ll get three Taptic Engines. These sensors will help provide a sense of feedback when pressing buttons, just like on the MacBook’s trackpad.
However, the Taptic Engines are expected to be slightly larger than what we’ve seen previously in the iPhone generation.
Apple’s new phone will increase the number of Taptic Engines installed in the device from one to three, which should help large smartphone manufacturers like Luxshare ICT (1st supplier) and AAC Technologies.
Kuo also expects these new button-less mobile phone designs to be adopted by Android phone makers, too. Given his track record, this might become a reality. However, we’re not sure how Apple will go about it.
Although the iPhone 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max are not expected to come out until next year, they are said to feature 8GB of RAM.
Other significant camera upgrade upgrades are in the works, too. The 15 Pro lineup might also be able to support USB-C and could also feature Dynamic Island included with its device(s) but this has yet to be confirmed.
Just because we’ve been hearing these rumours so much and there is no definitive evidence, it’s best to treat them as rumours. As such, we’ll have to wait until these rumours become official for us to really react with any excitement or be disappointed by the end result.
